Update Your Spring Makeup Bag: A Rose Tint

Over the last couple of weeks, I have finally felt the first signs of spring. The sky looks bluer, the sun warmer, and there is an over all freshness that seams to be uniquely springlike. In honor of this new clean feel, I have decided to make an effort to update my makeup wardrobe. I started with a few spring cleaning attempts that involved clearing out all the makeup from my vanity and starting fresh. I selected lighter formulas like tinted moisturizers to replace my thicker and moisturizing foundations from winter and opted for light highlighting concealers over my full coverage dark circle erasers. I only brought out the products that perfectly matched my new skin that has recently gotten a bronze glow from this new warm weather. For the rest of my makeup, I began hunting for the recent spring trends, so I could revamp and reenergize this new fresh look that I have been desiring. The first spring trend that has caught my eye this season has been the rose tinted look. I have gathered some of my favorite rosy hued products to help begin my transition into spring makeup.

I begin with the eyes because I feel that sometimes pink eyeshadow can be a little intimidating. Yes, sure a hot pinks may not be the way to go for most, but I do think that you can easily incorporate hints of rose in your eye looks with out seaming as though you’ve had three hours of sleep. Two of my favorite lid color shadows are expensive pink by MAC and L‘Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in amber rush. These shimmery eyeshadows are both subtle bronzy pinks. Amber rush has a more rose gold tone and expensive pink is a more champagne color. They both look beautiful paired with MAC free to be (peachy-pink) eyeshadow buffed out in the crease and MAC saddle (matte brown) color in the deep crease. The brown breaks up the pink colors and helps pull the look from girly to more sophisticated and neutral. I finish it off with MAC shroom to highlight my brow bone and inner corner and Nars Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in the color Rue Bonaparte in my lower waterline to brighten my eyes for a fresh and awake look.

On my cheeks, I have a few favorite products. I chose Benefit Posie Tint for a light long-wearing cheek tint and its match made in heaven, Benefit High Beam, a liquid highlighter that adds a beautiful rosy glow to the cheekbones. Both these products are easy and quick to use. I apply three dots of the Poise Tint to my cheeks and blend out after I finish with my foundation and concealer, but always before any powders. Next, I apply a few dots of High Beam to my cheek bones, brow bone, and cupid’s bow and blend again. These both add a beautiful glow to your cheeks and are perfect to throw in your beach bag if you need to take a look from the beach to the town. The other product I love in the spring is Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in NectarThis array of pretty pinks, creams, and corals is perfect to add a warmth to your cheeks that makes you look as if you are glowing from within. Swirled all together, this makes a beautiful blush, but you can also use the individual color layers as eyeshadow. The cream color is particularly beautiful to highlight with.

Lastly, I couldn’t end this rose theme without one of my favorite lip colors. This Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in the color 103 is the perfect bright rosy pink for anyones makeup bag. This lipstick has a beautiful satin finish and it’s color sometimes brings out my inner Barbie but with a more sophisticated twist, which I love. It’s a great throw on, no hassle, no lipliner color that’s perfect for your handbag and can help brighten up and refresh your makeup look midway through the day with a pop of color.
