October came and went especially fast, I feel like I say that every month, but really, it was here and gone. That didn’t stop me from trying and loving some new beauty products though. I happened to do a bit of shopping in the beginning of the month and found some winners.
Firstly, I discovered the MAC Face and Body Foundation. This super lightweight foundation is eighty percent water and very liquidy. I reminds me a little of the Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Foundation, but it feels different on the skin. I like to squeeze a pea sized amount onto my fingers and rub them together. This warms up the foundation a little bit and helps it blend into the skin. I’ve also noticed that when warm, it has a higher coverage, which is nice since this is definitely a light coverage foundation. I start in the center of my face and blend outward, adding more where needed to build up the coverage. I definitely need to set this foundation with a power because of my oily skin though.
Next is the Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector. This corrector is really thick and moisturizing, but also doesn’t settle in fine lines, as long as I set it with powder. I use this product in the darker shade because my dark circles are very purple and blue and the darker peachy-pink shade of this correcting concealer is perfect for canceling them out. I do have do go over my under-eye area with a concealer on top of it so that it fades seamlessly into my foundation. My favorite product for doing that has to be the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. I love this product. I have been using it for years and its great for brightening up dark circles or highlighting along the face. It’s super easy to apply because of the brush applicator and I usually just blend it out with my finger.
My favorite base lately has been the Cover Fx Mattifying Primer with Anit-Acne Treatment. This primer is great for keeping my makeup on all day and shine free. It has a silicone feel on the skin, which I like because it disguises pores pretty well. Also, a little bit goes a long way which helps this product last.
Next are the fun things. I recently purchased the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette. This palette has six powders: two blushes, one bronzer, one highlighter, and two face powders. This combination of the brands best selling powders is fantastic for travel. The blushes and bronzers are beautiful, very pigmented, and super bendable. They have a bit of shimmer in them which makes the skin look glowy and healthy. I love using the white powder to set my under-eye concealer and the brown powder for subtle and glowy highlighting on my face. The pink powder is a beautiful highlighter for the cheek bones. Next, the Urban Decay Basics 2 eye shadow palette has five beautiful, pigmented, and buttery matte shades and one wonderful shimmer highlighting shade. What I love most about this palette is that I can use any of my favorite lid colors with these shades to customize a eye-look for any event. You can make a subtle day look or a brown smokey eye, it truly has so much variability. Also, it’s great for travel. I pack a MAC quad with four different lid shades and this palette and I’m ready to go.
Lastly, for lips I have three fun shades I have been loving all month long. The Fresh Sugar lip treatment in Plum is beautiful. You can apply it lightly for a moisturizing tint or fully for a bolder look with a lip butter feel. This is my go to when I have dry lips. Next is MAC Twig. This is a purple shade with reddy-orange undertones. I apply this over MAC lip liner in Whirl and it’s beautiful for a bold yet not to bright statement lip. It also does a beautiful job at bringing out my hazel eyes. Last there is Trish McEvoy Essential Lip Pencil in the shade Nude. I love this product because it is so easy to apply thanks to its pencil design and it wears for so long. Additionally, for being such a long wearing lip product it’s not drying. It’s a super sophisticated shade that is perfect for work or play.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my favorite products of October. I know that I have been loving them and I hope that you have luck trying some of them out.
