For me, Chanel is the epitome of luxury. I don’t know whether it is the packaging that strikes me as so elegant and refined or the beautiful formulas of the products within, but Chanel has always been a brand that I’ve cherished. Each piece I own is a little bit of beauty and luxury throw into my not so luxurious life. Looking at the Chanel products I have, it makes me realize that I can justify splashing out on base products a lot more than any other products. Over the years, I’ve experimented with their foundations which I love. I’ve also really enjoyed using the Soleil Tan de Chanel, a cream bronzing base, but I had never made the investment into Chanel lipsticks. I’ve always been intrigued by the Chanel lipstick collection, but for a long time, I’ve never let myself make the purchase, until I saw these two.
These two little beauties caught my eye at a Chanel counter on a pretty display along with some other spring releases. I found something about them irresistible and to be honest, I kind of picked them up on a whim. But I’m so glad I did! These colors are perfect for spring. The first one I picked up was a Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in #42, L’Éclatante, a hot pink. I love a good vibrant pink in spring and I think this one is very flattering on my skin tone because it has a nice warm peachy undertone on my lips. The velvet texture is really beautifully pigmented like a matte lipstick, but buttery smooth and moisturizing. It also has pretty good wear-time. The next lipstick I picked up was a Rouge Allure in #91, Séduisante, a mauve, browny-pink shade that is a perfect everyday, wearable spring shade. This formula is more glossy than the velvet one and pretty moisturizing too which again is perfect for day-to-day wear. It has good lasting power too, but lets be honest, who doesn’t mind reapplying a lipstick with such beautiful packaging.
Overall, I’ve been very pleased with this recent purchase for spring and so far I give Chanel lipstick two thumbs up!
