I’m a pretty big fan of Chanel foundations. Over the years, I have tried and loved three of their different formulas: the Vitalumière Aqua, the Perfection Lumière Velvet, and now the Les Beiges Healthy Glow. I remember trying out my first Chanel foundation when I was a senior in high school. I had been saving up for my first expensive foundation and decided on trying out something from Chanel because I had heard some wonderful reviews and the Chanel name and packaging, in my mind, represented the ultimate form of chic and classiness. After falling in love with the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, I gave another of their foundations a try, the Matte Velvet, and again loved it! This brand seemed to capture everything I loved in a foundation, a weightless feel with light coverage and a perfecting finish. So when I heard through the grapevine (some British beauty bloggers) that Chanel was releasing a new foundation, the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation, I was already sold. The fact that it had been receiving raving reviews only raised my expectations and anticipation for its launch in the USA. When it finally launched in early April online, before it even arrived at any of my local Chanel counters, I had placed an order. I grabbed the shade 20 because it’s the shade between my extremes. When I’m pale, as can be in the Winter, I’m shade 10, and in the Summer I’m shade 30. So for Spring, 20 seemed like a safe bet and I was right! It matched me perfectly.
I’ll give a quick description of the Chanel shade range. The shades 10, 20, 30, etc… are warmer toned with a yellow neutral undertone. The shades 12, 22, 32, etc… are cooler toned with a pink neutral undertone. I’m warm-toned, so I usually buy from the 10, 20, 30… shade range, but I do have #12 in the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. It matches well enough because the shade range, in general, is pretty neutral, but I do notice that it looks better if I warm up my skin a bit with some bronzer.
When I finally tried out this new Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation for the first time I was thrilled with the results. It’s a thicker, mousier formula than either of the Chanel foundation formulas I had tried previously, but it provided higher coverage. I’d say that this foundation is definitely a solid medium coverage foundation. The finish is very perfecting, it minimizes my pores and adds a brightening glow to my complexion, so I’d say that it would be a perfect base for an event. It feels comfortable on the skin all day long and with a good primer, it has nice lasting power. I do set it with a powder, Mac Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, but that’s because I have oily skin, so I don’t think setting this foundation is necessary. I like applying this product with the Zoeva Silk Finish foundation brush because it blends it seamlessly into the skin. It does have SPF 25 in the foundation, which I do appreciate, making it great for everyday wear. I’d say that overall, this is a fantastic base. If you’re in the market for a medium coverage, perfecting and glowy base for the Spring and Summer, look not further. I highly recommend this foundation.
