I have been on the hunt for my perfect lightweight foundation for years and it seems as if it’s becoming a bit of an obsession. I’ve actually recently forced myself to go on a makeup no-buy because it seems my enthusiasm for all things beauty has gotten a bit out of hand and my wallet hates me at the moment. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need write about every new beauty item I have purchased recently before I will allow myself to venture back out into the world of beauty, but you all probably won’t be complaining much about that (haha). Honestly, I shouldn’t be panicking too much about this little restriction period since I have plenty of wonderful products to chose from to dress my face every morning, but for some reason it seams that I will forever be searching for the next best product that will “change my life”. So on this long road of discoveries, I have found the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint and I’m pretty please with it.
I picked up this foundation about a month a go, so I’d say I’ve definitely given it quite a go. Nars released a broad shade range of about 12 shades which do tend towards a yellow tone overall, but I didn’t notice this being problematic in terms of shade selection. The texture is similar to a mousse, but it doesn’t feel very heavy on the skin. I’d say this product is similar in texture and weight to the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. This product is kind of a hybrid between a full coverage foundation and a tinted moisturizer because it provides a solid medium coverage with a lighter feel. The finish, on myself, is definitely more of a velvet or satin finish than a true matte because it doesn’t leave my skin looking flat. The longevity is pretty good, especially when paired with a good primer. Additionally, this product includes SPF 30 which is great for everyday wear. I would warn any ladies with dry skin that this can be a bit drying, so definitely prep your skin before application with a moisturizer. For those with oily skin, no fear, this foundation will be your friend.
My favorite way to apply this foundation is with the ZOEVA Silk Finish Foundation Brush (see my Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Set Review Here) because it provides a beautiful, even, flawless and medium coverage base. For a more sheer look with a bit more hydration, I like to use my Beauty Blender.
All in all, I have been very impressed by this foundation and I anticipate it continuing to be one of my top go-to’s for a flawless beautiful base, especially for the warmer months ahead.
