I’ve always been interested in including some interiors posts here on A La Gray, but until now, I haven’t had the opportunity design a space the way I want. Now that I’ve finally moved into my apartment and begun to get settled, I thought I’d share a few sneak peaks of my space. I still have a long way to go, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom, but thankfully, everything has started to come together. I’m really happy with the way everything is turning out.
I’ll continue to give updates throughout this moving journey and since I’m new to the interiors world of blogging, please let me know in the comments below if you have anything you’d like me to share or talk about. I’m planning to do an interiors post at least once a month, so I’ll have many opportunities to share more content with you guys.
The design of my bedroom was particularly important to me. I’ve always loved minimalist bedrooms with open space. A cluttered space can stress me out, so I was going for a floor plan that felt clean and open. Because of this, I was looking for just a few pieces for my bedroom that would serve both the functional and artistic needs of the space.
In general, I love the idea of having a bed be the focal point of the room, so when I stumbled up this gorgeous bed frame, I couldn’t resist. The design makes it quite a statement, but being white prevents it from overpowering the small space.
Being primarily a beauty blogger, a vanity to work from is essential. I needed a piece that would photograph well, have enough storage for my needs, and be attractive. I opted for this long white desk with fun drawer pulls to jazz it up. But honestly, it’s this amazing bright pink chair (it’s on sale!!) that really transforms this piece from ordinary to something glamorous. I love it!
The only thing I’m looking for at this point is an oversized mirror to sit on the desk/vanity. Unfortunately, I’m very picky, so it might take a while until I find one I love.

My apartment is three rooms, an open kitchen and living room space, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Because of the general open design, the living room had to help divide the space. Because of this, I was looking for small pieces that fit the scale of the room, were sophisticated, yet also comfortable. Having white walls also meant that most of the color in my apartment had to come from the furniture.
I ended up going for an adorable slate blue loveseat and two matching greenish-gold chairs. I love the shape and style of each of these pieces and I think they really fit well in the space and add some character. I chose a little marble side table for a trendy twist, which I love. Naturally, I’m filling my apartment with as much greenery as possible, so this little aloe plant will soon hang from the ceiling for another pop of color. The only thing I have left is to find a cute little coffee table and perhaps a rug.

The bathroom has proven to be the most labor intensive of all of my rooms. The original floors in my apartment are concrete. I simply refinished them with a clear coat before moving in and I love how they turned out. For the bathroom though, I was interested in something a little different, something a little more classic.
To do this, I decided to tile the floors (myself!) with these statement marble-effect porcelain tiles. They add the classic element I was going for, yet still match the industrial warehouse vibes of the building.
Unfortunately, the bathroom still has a long way to go. I need to have my vanity sink installed, but hopefully it will be done soon. I can’t wait to not have to brush my teeth in the kitchen sink.
I hope you enjoyed this moving update post. I’m looking forward to writing more interiors posts in the future, so let me know in the comments below what you’d be interested in hearing about.
