Melrose Ave and a Coffee Break

DSC03565 (1)

This weekend was a good one. The weather was sunny and beautiful, not to chilly but cool enough to grab a cup of hot chocolate and cozy up. It was nice to let myself unwind and have a little fun before the midterm grind sets in. But isn’t that crazy! Midterms are already here and I’m dreading them. I guess that is a downside of the quarter system; I’ve only been back in school 3 weeks and I’m already in crunch time. Maybe soon I’ll post some of my study tips that help me get through my hell weeks.

So for the last few weeks, I’ve had my younger sister staying with me before she heads back to school for the beginning of her semester. She goes to school in Chicago, so it has been nice for her to take a break from that icy weather and hang out with me in sunny LA. She’s lucky enough to have a January class period where they can take classes if they want, but it’s uncommon for freshmen to participate their first year, so she has been staying with me. In an effort to show her a good time, I’ve been trying to take a break out of my crazy busy life and show her around this huge city I live in. So this weekend my roommate and I decided to show her around Beverly Hills and Melrose Ave. After a little exploring, we stopped in this super cute coffee shop, Alfred Coffee + Kitchen, for an afternoon pick me up and I convinced them to take a few pictures for me.

As you can see, I’m still on my black kick. I have been living in black jeans! I think everything looks good in them. They are so chic and effortless. A little distressing can play up the edgy vibe too. I picked up this shirt a few weeks ago too and it’s another classic addition to my wardrobe that I’ve been loving. The striped dress shirt style looks really sophisticated and put together, but the light casual fabric gives the overall look an chill vibe with a classic touch. The booties, another new staple of mine (this outfit is a pretty good representation of my favorite pieces lately haha), are so comfy! The heel is tall enough to elegantly elongate your legs and short and chunky enough to be comfortable and easy to walk in. These shoes took two seconds to break in and have really carried me through this Fall and Winter season so far. I’m considering investing in them in black.

I hope your weekend was as laid back as mine!
