Makeup Tips for Transitioning Your Beauty Bag for Fall

Makeup Tips for Transitioning Your Beauty Bag for Fall | A La Gray

It’s finally feeling like Fall here in the South East US and I’m loving it. I even finally picked up a pumpkin at the grocery yesterday in honor of this beautiful weather. If you haven’t already guessed based on my Halloween makeup post last week, I’m pretty excited for this season and all the holidays that come with it! With this cooler weather, I’ve been inspired to go through my makeup bag and swap out all my more summery and transitional makeup for all my Fall favorites. My Fall favorites are still pretty consistent with what they were last year, give or take a few products, so feel free to check them out here! So without further ado, here are my makeup tips for transitioning your beauty bag for Fall.

Fall Makeup Tips

Go Glowy When Choosing Your Base

My makeup tip number one is to swap out your lighter, water-based, and perhaps even sweat proof bases for something a bit more hydrating, glowy, and has more coverage. In the Summer I always gravitate towards a really light weight foundation so that my skin can breathe in the heat. When cooler weather sets in my skin often breaks out as it tries to adjust to the new weather, so heavier coverage works better for me. Also, keeping your skin radient during the cooler months can be a challenge, so I look for a more luminous base such as this Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundaiton. Here are the other foundations I gravtiate towards this time of year.

Incorporate More Cream Products

I find that in the Fall I stop relying so much on powder to keep my oily skin in control thanks to the cool, dry weather. Because of this I start incorporating more and more cream based products into my routine so that I don’t have to use so many powders on my skin. Not only does this help my complexion stay glowy, it also prevents my skin from getting too dry. Cream bronzers are some of my favorite products becuase they blend effortlessly into the skin and look so natural. This Sculpting Contour Chubby Stick from Clinique is amazing for adding definition to the face.

Illuminate Your Undereyes

In the Summer I love packing on the coverage under my eyes to hide my dark circles and keep my eyes looking awake. But in the Fall I put away my water-proof, heavier concealers for more illuminating and highlighting alternatives. This time of the year I love a bright and radient complextion, so concealers with a light or glowy finish have all my attention. I’ve recently been loving this all-natural one from Nu Evolution, but here are some other great illuminating concealers I’m also a big fan of.

Bring on the Berry Tones

There is one Fall trend I will never get enough of and that is berry lips. Last year, it was all about the mattes, but this year I’ve been loving the full, glossy look. You can achieve this either with a moisturizing, shinny lipstick, like these from YSL, or simply pat a little clear lip gloss over your color of choice to transform its finish. These are my all-time favorites for this season!

Those are all my favorite makeup tips for transitioning your makeup bag for Fall. I really hope you liked them. Please let me know in the comments below some of your Fall makeup tips! I’d love to hear them!
