As you may have noticed, I’ve been a little bit absent this month. Apart from the fact that December is a pretty crazy month in general, I’ve also been moving! Or I should say, preparing my new home to be moved into. Since moving back to the east coast this August, I’ve been looking for a more longterm place to settle into. Thankfully my months of searching have paid off and I found a beautiful little one-bedroom apartment in November that I can soon call home.
Throughout December, I’ve done a bit of refurbishing. I’ve re-painted the walls and refinished the concrete floors. My biggest project has been to tile the bathroom floor, which I’m currently in the midst of finishing. My next goal is to do a minor kitchen revamp, but that’s on the back burner for now. At the moment, I’m working on finishing up the furnishing of the place and actually starting to moving in.
I love decorating and designing interior spaces, so I thought I’d put together a little collection of the pictures I’ve found (off Pinterest of course!) that are inspiring me. Here’s my interior inspiration!
I know these photos don’t necessarily all go together, but what appeals to me at the moment is the idea of layering different textures and colors for an effortless, cozy look. I like the look of structured upholstery with snuggly throws and fluffy pillows.
For my kitchen, I really love the look of statement painted cabinets. I’ve actually already painted mine blue, but a bit darker and with more grey than this baby blue pictured below. In addition, I’ve taken out my upper cabinets and plan to replace them with wooden open shelving, maybe with some reclaimed wood like this table below. I also love copper tones in the kitchen. Plus, this hanging rail is so awesome!
I’m all about cozy vibes for my bedroom. I love the idea of layered textures, tonnes of massive pillows and a fluffy dovet. I’m also loving each of these side tables with the flowers and candles.
For my bathroom I’m interested in a clean, white, bright palette with an industrial twist. I love contrast, such as black and white, especially with tile. It would be a dream to have a clawfoot bathtub, but I don’t think my space is big enough. I guess I’ll just have to get creative.
My closet is a little walk-in that desperately needs a redesign. I love the idea of hanging my clothes off pipes, like in this picture below. This second picture inspired me to purchase a malm dresser from ikea to store clothes in. Overall, I’m going for a minimalist, yet again, industrial look.
Since I work from home, a home office is a must have. In my apartment, this simply means a desk in the corner of my main living room. I’m interested in something minimalist and simple, but also a space that will inspire me creatively and be a comfortable working environment.
I’m not quite sure about my decor yet. I love the idea of having plants everywhere. I may have already raided ikea’s succulent section (oops), but I love them so much! In addition, I like the idea of layering photos and using prints to decorate the walls and empty spaces.
