There is something so inspiring about fall. I love the cool crisp weather, layering textures and incorporating new trends with well-loved pieces in my wardrobe, and obviously the holidays. This time each year, I am motivated not only to refresh and reorginized my life, but also my closet. After doing a bit of shopping and looking into styles for this season, I’ve come up with everything that will keep your fall oufits on trend.
It’s All About Color
The first thing I think about when it comes to fall styles are autumnal colors. I always gravitate to the classics, such as burnt oranges, like this dress here, olive greens, and rich camel colors. This seasons trends are a little different, but can easily be incorporated into your existing wardrobe. Currently, reds and brights are really in at the moment, so try styling your fall outfits around these hues.
Arriving with a bang last year, over-the-knee boots are back again this season and it looks like they’re here to stay. These super stylish, sexy boots can take any of your fall outfits to the next level. Throw on a heeled pair to take your look from day to night, or choose a more rustic flat boot to add an edge to a classic style. These boots are so wearable and effortlessly chic, so jump on the band wagon and add this trend to your wardrobe.
There’s a reason we call this season sweater weather. Who doesn’t love the idea of cosying up to the fire, cup of hot cocoa in your hand, seasonal candle burning, and snuggling up in your favorite knits. It makes us all think of the holidays, spending time with our family, and enjoying good food and company. There are two snuggly essentials we should each have in our wardrobe this Fall season, both of which can effortless take us into Winter as well. Firstly, there are cunky knits, because who doesn’t think of sweaters when they imagine fall fashion. Currently, ruffles and off-the-shoulder styles are really in, so upgrade your knit game this season by incorportating some of these trends into your wardrobe. Secondly, we’re seeing shearling jackets make a reappearance. If this outdoorsy style isn’t for you, try an all-black version. I picked up one of these styles last year and am still obsessed. It’s so warm, snuggly, and super chic!
Play with Prints and Textures
Something that’s unique about Fall fashion is the emphasis on layering. I love the look of different textures paired together, whether that’s lace and leather (like my shoe and dress combo here!), or knits and fur (faux of course!). Currently I’ve been loving layoring soft and hard pieces together, such as the sheer top and tailored pants in my last post. Playing with prints is also super in this season, the trendiest of them all being plaid. Right now I’m loving the gingham and plaid look on coats. They make a statement without being too bold. Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming post showing how I style an amazing plaid dress with some super cool over-the-knee boots.
Drop Your Hemlines
One of my best tips for transitioning your style from Summer to Fall is to drop your hemlines. By this I mean to gravitate towards styles with longer lengths, such as this maxi dress I’m wearing here. But it doesn’t have to stop with dresses and skirts! Duster coats are an amazing way to add some length to an outfit without opting for a heavy coat. If you live in a warmer climate, pairing a duster coat with your fall outfits can add an autumnal vibe without being too warm.
Sometimes a little trend refresh in your wardrobe is all it takes to inspire you for the new season. I’ve been loving incorporating these trends into my fall outfits this year. Hopefully you’ve found a few new favorites that will help you stay effortlessly chic this season.
