Get Ready with Me: Autumn in Paris & My Top 5 Places to Visit

Get Ready with Me: Autumn in Paris & My Top 5 Places to Visit | A La Gray

A cliche as this sounds, Paris is the city of my dreams. I feel as though it’s my land of opportunity, where adventure awaits beyond every street corner and life is a valiant blend of pure simplicity and utter complexity. Every day perfectly pairs the routine and the atypical. From my daily excursion to the boulangerie to my new experiences meeting new people and discovering extraordinary places. After being here in Paris for a month, I’ve gathered quite a list of the most incredible places I’ve seen this trip. I know there are the typical must sees, such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Louvre, but this post is my more personal list. A record of all the amazing places that force me to stop in my tracks, sever the moment, and remember to tell myself, “wow, you’re in Paris, and this is incredible”.

La Durée

1.) The first place on my list has to be La Durée.  Although it’s a bit of a Paris cliché, I honestly have to get my macaroon fix to formally commence my Parisian experience. This most recent trip, I discovered the La Durée Boutique and Tea Room (34 rue Bonaparte), a dreamy mid afternoon stop to enjoy a nice cup of tea and a grand assortment of their all-famous macaroons. My absolute favorites are Rose Petal, Salted Caramel, and Raspberry.

Bully Parfumerie

2.) Another Parisian place of beauty is Bully (21 Rue Bonaparte), a luxurious perfumerie that stocks it shelves full of incredible skin lovelies. From beautiful hand soaps and scented candles to pure facial oils that seem to cure your skin’s every want, this store is a dream for any skincare lover like myself. If you want a moment in the land of milk and honey, I recommend stepping inside this beauty oasis.

San Chapelle

3.) For something a bit more on the tourist-y side, my absolute favorite monument to visit is San Chapelle. This incredible church, that once served as the royal chapel to the French monarchy, is absolutely breathtaking. As you enter the sanctuary, you’re surrounded by enormous and extraordinarily ornate stained glass windows that soar from the ground to the ceiling. It’s an incredible awe to read the history of this church and learn that this level of craftsmanship was achievable in the twelfth century! You haven’t done Parisian tourism right, if you miss out on this one.

Moonshiner Speakeasy

4.) Moving on to some of the more unique experiences Paris has to offer, Moonshiner Speakeasy is an incredible hidden bar, modeled after the American 1920s prohibition era style. I say hidden, because it’s a bit of a journey to get into the bar itself. First you have to walk through restaurant called Pizza da Vito ( 5 Rue Sedaine, 11th arrondissement), into their kitchen, and through their walk-in-cooler to a door (crazy right!). Next, you have to knock twice and ask for “Harry” in order to be let in. If you’re looking for a fun night with girl friends or something a little bit off the beaten path, I definitely recommend trying out this place and checking out their diverse selection of specialty cocktails.

5.) Again, more on the funky side, there is an amazing store in the 6th arrondissement called Deyrolle (46 Rue du Bac). If you’re a bit squeamish, especially when it comes to bugs, than this may not be for you, but I think this store is just awe-inspiring. After walking up stairs, you’ll be surrounded by all kinds of beautiful things from fossils and preserved butterflies to an enormous  taxidermy collection. Although much of their merchandise may not be something you’d ever think of purchasing, I highly recommend looking around this “cabinet of curiosities” a bit simply for creative inspiration and for their art show.

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my Parisian experience. If you enjoyed this kind of post, I can easily round up some more of my favorites for a part 2! Also, if you’re interested in my outfit details, they’ll all be mentioned below, along with my makeup and my Get Ready with Me Video. Definitely check those out! I hope you enjoyed this little break from my usual beauty and fashion content, but I’ll be back soon with more!
