Faux Fall

As I count down for Fall weather to truly set in here in Southern California, I have decided to spend a little time enjoying the sun before the cold shuts me indoors. After an insanely busy week, some friends and I decided to spend the afternoon wandering around Santa Monica. We did a little shopping, snacking, and beach strolling because truly nothing helps me to unwind more than a little retail therapy.

I decided to wear one of my favorite outfits because first of all I’ve always been a fan of all black. I love it because there is no matching involved. You don’t have to worry about compatible colors or textures or any of those morning annoyances that cause you to change five hundred times before settling. Secondly, I think black-on-black is really sophisticated and elegant. It’s easy to appear put together during the day and effortless to transition from day into night. I’d just throw on some black heels with this outfit, grab a little clutch, put on some red lipstick, and go.

I particularly like this outfit because the pants are unbelievably comfortable. They are nice and loose fitting, without my figure being lost in a bunch of fabric. For someone who always gets chilly (like me) the leg coverage is necessary, but because the fabric is so light, I never get to hot. In the warm weather I like to wear crop tops because they keep me cool while also looking really chic. Also, if I’m going to show a little skin around the midriff, I prefer a higher neckline to balance out the skin showing, especially since this is a tank top style shirt. If it was a bit cooler, I could definitely wear a cropped sweater or throw a cardigan over this look. I just think this outfit is effortless, comfortable, and chic.
