It’s almost cliche to be another blogger who’s favorite season is Fall, but what can I say, I just feel like this season complements me. Maybe it’s that I feel as though I’ve missed out on this season a bit after living in Los Angeles for the past two years, but now that I’m in Paris for the Fall, I feel like I can truly take advantage of this season for the first time in a while. As the days get colder, my flowy dresses have been replaced by pants and scarves, my Summer tan has faded into memory, and I’ve begun to anxiously await this change of season. Recently, I’ve been enjoying my afternoon hot chocolate break at a local café as a nod to the cooler weather, a true sign that I’m ready for Autumn.
This weekend I reorganized my makeup stash a little bit in order to pull out and dust off some of my favorite Fall beauty staples. So, I thought I’d share a little bit of my inspiration with you.
Starting off with everyone’s Fall beauty favorite, berry lips, here are three of my autumnal lipstick staples. Beginning with the left, I’ve got Mac’s Private Party, a dirty plum mauve shade with a satin finish. I love darker shades with purple undertones because I think they really make the green in my hazel eyes come alive. I can pair simple eye makeup with this bold lipstick, but I never feel as though my eyes get lost. This is my go-to deep berry lip for Fall. Next we have Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in #107, a bright berry red color. My favorite way to wear this shade is pressed gently into the lips to give a stain-like appearance. This is my most wearable of my darker berry lips and at a drugstore price, it’s really hard to beat. Lastly we have Nars Audacious Lipstick in Rita, a dark red. Because I can’t survive in any season without a red lipstick, I thought I’d include my favorite red shade for Autumn. The pigmentation and texture of this Nars lipstick is incredible. It’s a perfect marriage of hydration and long-wear that keeps your lips looking full for hours.
Next, I’ll move onto my favorites in the eyes category. Again, I love Fall makeup because I think the warm neutral hues really complement my features. I love playing around with golds and bronzes, especially this Isolde Duo from Nars. The pigmentation and blend-ability of these shadows is simply to die for. I also like experimenting with more cream shadow bases as the weather cools down and I’m not as worried about creams melting in the heat and on my oily skin. My current favorites have been the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Aubergine, a deep plum-purple shade, and the Sephora Colorful Cream Shadow and Liner in Kaki, a shimmery olive. My favorite way to wear these is to blend them out across my eyelid and into the crease with a Mac 217 brush and pair them with a pop of gold highlight in my inner corner and brow bone (Mac Soft and Gentle, listed below). This has been my go-to for a wearable, bold eye look that takes seconds to complete. Lastly for eye shadow, I have my favorite Fall eyeshadow palette, Zoeva Cocoa Blends palette. This eyeshadow palette is your complete eye kit for Fall featuring rich warm matte browns, beautiful cranberries, golds, bronzes, and even a perfect deep black-brown for liner. For day-to-day wear, I’ll grab any of these shades in this palette and sweep them all over my lid and into the crease for simple look. But thanks to the color diversity in this palette, you can take your look from day to night, effortlessly. Lastly, I love to finish off any of my Fall eye looks with some brown gel liner to add needed definition without adding any harshness to a neutral look. This Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink has been my go to for a while now.
I’ll finish off my Fall beauty favorites with these last three gems. Firstly, I have my most loved highlighter in my collection, Mac Mineralized Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. This is such an oldie but a goody product that has really passed the test of time in my collection. I think it beautifully complements my warm skin tone and looks amazing all year round, but there’s something about Autumn that always makes me want to crack out my gold shades. I love to dust this on top of my cheekbones, inner corner, and brow bone. I also love the Nars blush in Sin, a dusty plum color that looks great paired with berry lips. Lastly, we have the newest addition to my Fall favorites collection, Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose. Although I’ve never really thought of rose as a Autumnal scent, there is something in this fragrance that has an amazing warmth to it. It’s described as “a seductive floral blend embodying the heart of a dark rose with notes of rose de mai, geranium, and vetiver for a sultry, refined scent with intrigue”. I absolutely love it and can’t get enough of it recently, which is saying a lot for the girl who always forgets to wear perfume.
Well those are all my beauty favorites for the season! I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe walked away with another item added to your wishlist; I know that always happens to me when I read these kinds of posts. Please let me know in the comments what your Fall beauty favorite is! I love seeing your beauty loves. I’ll be back Friday with a something a little different!
